GVSHOF, The Twenty Five Year Journey: By brian zelley

The year 2016 is the 25th. year anniversary for the
Greater Victoria Sports Hall of Fame. This story will
cover with some history. But, it starts with my first
time at the ceremony as a sponsor for Mike Caird.

18th. Annual Ceremony:
After Mike Caird, I sponsored auto racer Gary Kershaw.
This was followed in 2011 with the London Boxing Club's
1974/75 premier soccer team. Some of the players were
George Pakos, Brian Robinson and Bob Bolitho.

2016 Announcement

* Names of the 2016 was announced  by the
GVSHOF and reported in the Times Colinist
with the following headline:
"Olympians headlne Victoria'sclass of 2016"

The induction ceremony will take place
October 29th. at Westin Bear Mountain hotel
facility.


Some of the names include athletes and builders
such as athletes Nancy Charlton, Simon Keith,
and builders Randy Bennett, Mike Spracklen, Bob Moffatt,
and John  and Marilyn Bate.


              Ed Ashmore, 2015 Inductee, builder (wrestling)

Ed started in wrestling when he agreed to step in
and replace Art Burgess for one time. Both Art and Ed had
previoßly been änateur boxers. Art, who opened the wrestling door For Äsmore had fought in the Sun Goldén Gloves 1946.
