British Columbia Amateur Boxing
Hall of Fame
Although the BC Amateur boxing hall of fame began in 2010
there is a lot of history with th many inductees


The above list is only the names from 2010 to 2012
but before we include the 2013 and 2014 names, the above list
paints an interesting tapestry for the sport.

THE STORY of TOMMY PAONESSA

Our first pioneer selected was former boxer, coach and ring
official Tommy Paonessa who coached in several decades including the forties

To highlight his icon status, Tommy has been inducted into various halls of fame including the BC Sports Hall of Fame and
Boxing Canada's Hall of Fame.

* Since the selection of Mr. Paonessa
others to be selected for the Pioneers are:

Vic Murdoch, Billy Townsend and William Finlay


The All Rounders

The first two all-rounders were:
Lennie Walters and Roger Adolph
Mr. Walters is also an inductee of other halls of Fame.
At one time he operated the
Burnaby Boxing Club and the boxers included
son and Olympic bronze medalist Dale Walters.
Others since selected as all-rounders are
Derek Hoyt and Jimmy McMillan

Junior - Youth Category
Alan Brown, Tony Duffy, Mickey Griffin, Jamey Ballard



The junior - youth boxers touch on numerous tournaments and a few boxing clubs
in such places as Cranbrook, Campbell River and Nanaimo.



Women In Boxing

The first two selected were Mandy LaPointe and Marg O'Reilly.
Others were added in 2013

There is a good selection of boxers and builders



Laurie Mann, Michae Olajide jr., Tony Duffy, Bert Lowes,
Donnie Orr, Mandy Lapointe, Allan Bayne, and Roger Adolph 




For 2014 names of boxers and builders are:
Jack Meda, Kit Munro, Bob Peguea,
Bert Wilkinson, Harry Twist,and Jeff Yule

Bob Pegues was nominated by Jag Seehra and Kenny Lally
but quickly gained the support of good cross section including
Inductee Mickey Griffin änd Seth Gotro
