The MIKE CAIRD boxing story: By Brian Zelley Mike was an amateur boxer until 1964 and was a 1963 BC Golden Gloves Champion.  After boxing, Mike would turn to coaching.  In 1974, Ian Weir. Brian Zelley and Dan Wright would join up with Mike to revive boxing in Victoria. In August 1976, the Victoria Athletic Association replaced the London Boxing club. Western Canadian Boxing Hall of Fame: by Brian Zelley In April 2017, the Western Canadian Boxing Hall of Fame was established by Lincoln Suchit and Brian Zelley. The first inductees will be selected December 26, 2017. Some early likely picks include Scotty Olson and Dale Walters  Jimmy McLarnin. A potential first year inductee into the Western Canadian Boxing Hall of Fame along with Scotty Olson, Jimmy McLarnin and a selection of others. *It is expected that the Western Canadian Boxng Hall will follow the format of the BC Amateur Boxing Hall of Fame established in 2010.

Greater Victoria Sports Hall of Fame: by Brian Zelley Commonwealth Games Sports Committe 1989 to 1974) * The sports committee was inducted into the GVSHOF in 2014. However, all of the participants involved on the committee were not given recognition for their participarion and time involved. British Columbia Amateur Boxing Hall of Fame: * 1994 Commonwealth Games boxing was inducted as an event.  Where possible many have been recognized from British Columbia and the Canadian boxing team. Bert Wilknson served on the boxing  committee for a couple of years. And was one of the early volunteers in 1990. The original boxing committee was comprised of: Hassan Sunderanni, Brian Zelley, Mike Sartori and Glynn Jones.
